Vocademy Hosts Hands-On Training for Bourns STEM PULL Day

On Thursday, July 19, 2018, Vocademy hosted dozens of young students from several local high schools for a full day hands-on learning. This amazing event was made possible by Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) and the Bourns sponsored PULL (Public Utilities Learning Lab) program. These students chose from the following topics: Electronics Soldering Foam Props Sewing CAD Woodshop Welding Laser Cutting 3D Printing For many of these students, it was the first time they’ve ever had the opportunity to create something with their own hands.  Several of them expressed how much fun and transformational it was. Instructor Highlight – Katherine Panowicz

Introducing Kat Panowicz, one of Vocademy’s female instructors.  Kat is a true Renaissance woman, not only does she actually re-enact the Renaissance period in local Ren faires, but she is a woman of many talents. Kat teaches the following classes at Vocademy: Electronics Raspberry π Sewing Soldering Python Programming Arduino And when needed, she can also teach: CAD 3D Printing 3D Modeling Kat has been with us at Vocademy for nearly 3 years. Student Spotlight – Alondra Flores

In walks Alondra Flores, a petite, beautiful, exuberant young lady, to talk about her experiences at Vocademy. Alondra says she signed up for Learn 4 Life for her high school. Learn 4 Life is a network of public charter schools that offers students a personalized high school course path. They connect students with their partnered resource centers and Vocademy is one of their resources. Alondra signed up for classes at Vocademy to satisfy some of her elective credits needed. Brian Cox is one of our amazing Instructors here at Vocademy. 300+ Raspberry Pi Jam 2018 attendees!

On Saturday, March 3rd, over 300 attendees (of all ages!!!) participated in the Riverside Raspberry Jam held at Vocademy – The Makerspace!
